If Christian believers are divided up and separate from each other, then it's uncomplicated for the devil to deceive us. We really need other upright folks to mirror our ideas and feelings back to us. It's much more challenging to keep on being objective about our life situations when we are on our own, living in isolation. We may very well be thriving, be going in the right direction, and yet be indecisive simply because we have a scant amount of helpful feedback.

Discovering how to be with one another in a strong and reverent manner is crucial to understanding how to start a church; knowing how to develop into the early church. Regrettably, very few of us who have called Jesus our Lord and Saviour for any length of time, have very much experience in giving and receiving helpful feedback from each other.

Because of this lack of practice, plenty of us either talk far more than we should or far less than would be beneficial. Either one of these excessive positions can have a rather adverse influence on all if not most brothers and sisters in the body of Christ.

The core power of the simple church pattern originates in it's ability to permit people to really be well-known. All individuals desire to be understood and received for who they are, in spite of the fact that they are a long way from perfect. Learning to be transparent and unguarded is not a trouble-free task for Christians who have expended the lion's share of their lives attending church services that are far removed from how the early church operated.

Rifts between individuals happen fairly often because of a lack of mutual understanding of each other's perspective. We can disagree strongly about a great number of things but it is imperative to realize that "disagreement does not equal rejection." The idea that I firmly disagree with a brother or sister in no possible way mean that I discard them as a person.

One more reason for division between Christian believers can be traced to our mutually wounded condition. No one who is making an effort to live like the disciples of Jesus did in house church community, does so without having acquired some pains and bruises along the way. These kinds of wounds are pretty painful and we naturally seek to shield ourselves from added injury. We build barriers to protect ourselves from further agony, yet these barriers also keep out much of the friendship and intimacy we long for with other like minded people.

In order to triumph over these obstructions to Christian harmony, we must focus our attention primarily on matters of the heart, as opposed to ever increasing amounts of mental data. It is out of the question to love an individual, truly love and respect them, if we don't enjoy an intimate understanding of who they are.
